Health Guarantee
Health Guarantee & Contract
Every effort has been made by seller to insure that your puppy is in healthy, sound condition. The puppy has been microchipped, received proper vaccinations, deworming, tails docked and dew claws removed prior to them leaving our home for your home. All of these precautions and practices are included in the price and are not an additional cost. A licensed veterinarian must examine the puppy within 72 hours of receipt. During the initial exam, should your vet detect any genetic, congenital health problems that would require further veterinary care (other than required vaccinations and/or treatment of parasites or bacteria, internal or external), buyer must contact seller within 24 hours. A written report of the vet's findings will be required and the seller reserves the right to share and confirm the findings with their vet. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of this guarantee.
A puppy with a defect must be returned to the seller (at the buyer's expense, including any shipping costs) in order to qualify for a replacement puppy. The replacement puppy will not be from the same litter, it will be replaced as soon as a comparable (same color and gender) one is available. If a puppy is euthanized without the seller’s permission, this guarantee will be null and void and no replacement puppy will be given.
This guarantee does not include uneven bites, undescended testicles, demodex mange, inguinal or umbilical hernias, fleas, ticks, worms, ear mites, coccidian, giardia, or kennel cough. There are also certain disorders which may be caused by environmental factors, for example: allergies, demodectic mange, and other autoimmune disorders that are not covered by this guarantee. **Please do your research on the conditions that are not covered as any of them could possibly occur and would be solely the responsibility of the buyer.**
At The Proper Pointer Co., every puppy’s health and well-being are our top priority. It’s important to understand that all puppies are born with some level of internal parasites, and the stress of moving to a new home can occasionally reactivate dormant ones such as worms, protozoa, coccidia, or giardia.
To give each puppy the best possible start, we follow a strict deworming schedule at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks of age to help prevent pinworms, roundworms, and hookworms. Our team also maintains detailed sanitation protocols designed to minimize the risk of giardia and coccidia.
Even with careful prevention, some parasites can persist despite treatment. For that reason, we recommend scheduling a routine fecal exam and deworming with your veterinarian shortly after your puppy arrives home.
Please note that The Proper Pointer Co. does not offer any expressed or implied warranty against common puppy parasites mentioned above. Puppies, like young children, are still developing their immune systems and may experience minor conditions such as ear infections, mild skin irritations, or bacterial and viral infections during this growth phase. These are common and typically resolved with prompt veterinary care. Providing consistent veterinary attention is an important part of responsible dog ownership.
Until your puppy has received all four rounds of puppy vaccinations, it’s essential to avoid public places such as dog parks or pet stores where contagious diseases like Parvovirus or Distemper can be present. However, playtime with healthy, fully vaccinated dogs is safe and highly encouraged for socialization and confidence-building. We’re committed to supporting you and your puppy every step of the way from our home to yours.
If this puppy dies within 72 hours of purchase, the buyer will pay to have a necropsy performed by a licensed veterinarian and if the reason for death is found to be congenital, the seller will replace the puppy. Seller is not responsible for any vet expenses incurred.
Buyer agrees to provide puppy with routine preventative care, follow vet guidelines on worming, vaccinations, neutering/spaying and proper housing. If the buyer decides that they can no longer keep and care for the puppy, the puppy can be returned at once to the seller free of charge. Any and all concerns (outside of any genetic, congenital health problems found by a licensed vet as listed above) should be voiced and dealt with before or on the day of pickup or shipping. Once the new owner accepts and takes the puppy/puppies from the seller's home or the puppy is shipped, the puppy belongs to them.
All of our dogs are registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC) and all of our litters will go home with AKC Full Registration. This guarantee is valid for the original owner only and is not transferable. By signing this agreement both parties agree to be bound by all terms set forth and buyer agrees to take proper care of their new puppy/puppies. This agreement shall be deemed a legal and binding contract and is under the jurisdiction of the state of South Carolina, in the county of Pickens.
