About
Who We Are
At The Proper Pointer Co., located in Six Mile, South Carolina, our work is built on legacy, not trends.
Our breeding program began with two exceptional German Shorthaired Pointers, Boone and Copper, who established the foundation and standards we continue to build upon today. They shaped our vision for the kind of dogs we want to raise, with an emphasis on sound temperament, natural ability, and quality.
As our program has grown, so has our commitment to continually improving the bloodlines behind it. Today, through our pairings of CH Aspen Hill Say When MH NA-3 UT-2 × Etringer’s Piping Hot Piper and Aspen Hill Standing Invictus One MH NA-1 UT-1 × Etringer’s Blue Creek Gabbie, we are building on that original foundation with pedigrees that bring together distinguished champion lines and generations of accomplished hunting dogs.
Boone and Copper will always be part of our story, but our focus is on moving forward thoughtfully—building stronger bloodlines, preserving the qualities that make the German Shorthaired Pointer special, and producing dogs with the drive, intelligence, and temperament to excel in the field and at home. We respect where we started, take pride in how far we’ve come, and remain committed to making each generation better.
From the beginning, our mission has been intentional: to preserve and advance strong, balanced bloodlines while raising dogs that are capable in the field, steady in the home, and reliable in everyday life. We do not breed casually. We build forward — thoughtfully and strategically — with long-term vision in mind.
With the completion of our newly built on-site kennel facility, that same level of intention now extends to the services we offer our community. We proudly provide Overnight Boarding and Daytime Boarding, along with structured training programs designed to support responsible dog ownership. Our facility was purpose-built to provide a clean, secure, and low-stress environment where dogs receive individualized care and consistent routines.
What sets The Proper Pointer Co. apart is the balance of passion and professionalism. We combine hands-on experience, practical standards, and uncompromising care with a deep respect for the breed and the families who trust us.
We are not simply raising dogs.
We are building a program designed to stand the test of time — producing well-balanced companions, dependable working dogs, and a standard of care our community can rely on for years to come.
Our Mission
The Proper Pointer Co. mission is to raise, train, and care for dogs with excellence and integrity. We are committed to breeding healthy and capable companions, providing premium boarding that feels like home, and shaping young puppies with obedience foundations that last a lifetime. With every dog in our care, we aim to set the standard for responsible breeding, premium boarding, and positive training so that dogs and their families can thrive together. As well as to have all aspects of our business Done Properly—because your best friend deserves nothing less.
Built on Proven Bloodlines
At The Proper Pointer Co., our breeding program is built on proven pedigrees, natural ability, and a commitment to producing quality German Shorthaired Pointers. As we build our program around these impressive pairings, our goal is to produce well-rounded dogs with the ability to excel in the field and the temperament to be valued companions at home. We are committed to preserving the qualities that make this breed special while thoughtfully building the next generation of Proper Pointers.
Beyond breeding, we’re committed to providing complete care for dogs and their families. Through our obedience training programs and boarding services, we extend the same structured, loving environment to every dog that comes through our doors.
At The Proper Pointer Co., we’re more than breeders—we’re dog lovers, trainers, and caretakers devoted to nurturing the bond between people and their dogs. What began with just one GSP has become a community built on trust, passion, and the pursuit of excellence—one beautiful German Shorthaired Pointer at a time.
