Who We Are
At The Proper Pointer Co., located in Six Mile, South Carolina, our work is built on legacy, not trends.
Our program began with two exceptional German Shorthaired Pointers — Boone and Copper — who embody the standard we refuse to compromise on. They represent proven genetics, structural integrity, sound temperament, and real-world ability. They are not just part of our story — they are the foundation of it. Everything we produce, every dog we raise, and every standard we maintain traces back to the qualities they exemplify.
From the beginning, our mission has been intentional: to preserve and advance strong, balanced bloodlines while raising dogs that are capable in the field, steady in the home, and reliable in everyday life. We do not breed casually. We build forward — thoughtfully and strategically — with long-term vision in mind.
With the completion of our newly built on-site kennel facility, that same level of intention now extends to the services we offer our community. We proudly provide Overnight Boarding and Daytime Boarding, along with structured training programs designed to support responsible dog ownership. Our facility was purpose-built to provide a clean, secure, and low-stress environment where dogs receive individualized care and consistent routines.

Our Mission
The Proper Pointer Co. mission is to raise, train, and care for dogs with excellence and integrity. We are committed to breeding healthy and capable companions, providing premium boarding that feels like home, and shaping young puppies with obedience foundations that last a lifetime. With every dog in our care, we aim to set the standard for responsible breeding, premium boarding, and positive training so that dogs and their families can thrive together. As well as to have all aspects of our business Done Properly—because your best friend deserves nothing less.
At the heart of our breeding program are two exceptional males—Boone, whose pedigree includes immediate AKC Champions, and Chief, a guide dog with lineage from prestigious Sharp Shooter Man in Black and Sharp Shooter Ace in the Hole. Both consistently produce outstanding puppies known for their intelligence, drive, and affectionate nature.
Beyond breeding, we’re committed to providing complete care for dogs and their families. Through our obedience training programs and boarding services, we extend the same structured, loving environment to every dog that comes through our doors.
